There's a $300,000 USD prize pool in first H1Z1 team tourney

The event will take place in April.

Daybreak Game Company's H1Z1 may still be on Steam Early Access, but that's not stopping the first official team based tournament from happening. This tournament will feature 15 teams and a prize pool of $300,000 USD is up for grabs, the whole event being broadcast on the CW Network and the CW Seed digital platform. Leading up to the tournament finale, CW will also broadcast a five-part "esports docuseries" called H1Z1: Fight for the Crown, a profile of the Echo Fox esports franchise leaded by Rick Fox and Jace Hall.

Each team is only allowed five players in the competition, all of which will be in the arena at the same time, meaning communication and strategy is key if the teams are to come out on top. A further rule is that there are no respawns, permadeath style, so once you die you're out of the game and you leave your team one member down. The winning team will win $180,000, second place will earn $60,000, $30,000 will go to the third-place finisher, $18,000 for fourth, and $12,000 for fifth.

To be considered for entry, you'll need to be ranked on the Twin Galaxy H1Z1 leaderboard. Four teams - Echo Fox, Rogue Gaming, Panda Global, and Denial Esports - are already confirmed participants, but slots remain open. Check out the official website for more information on the tournament, taking place April 20. Is H1Z1 an up-and-coming esports title?
