Ettorito97 brilliantly wins PES League's second European season

The Italian left nothing but crumbs to his opponents and received the $ 20,000 prize during the event which took place Saturday in Anfield.

10-2 for his first game, a final won 5-1 against the experienced German El Matador, Ettorito97 (Italy) has definitely dominated the 2nd season of the PES League: Road to Cardiff. Gathered in Anfield, Liverpool's mythical stadium, the 16 European finalists of Konami's tournament offered a sometimes dazzling and always interesting show. The tournament qualified 4 new players for the world finals that will take place on June the 3rd at the Principality Stadium of Cardiff alongside the UEFA Champions League final. If you recall, the first four qualified European players validated their tickets for Wales during the regional final of the Season 1, in Barcelona last February.

Given its close partnership with several major squads on the continent, Konami only offered a handful of teams to pick for the participants. Thus, they all picked FC Barcelona, giving up on Atletico Madrid, Dortmund or Liverpool, to name a few of the available teams. The only player to have chosen another team, namely the Portuguese dNation who opted for Arsenal (as he did in Barcelona), ended the competition empty-handed, with three games lost. The fact of seeing almost only Barça vs Barça games has somewhat altered the fun, and we still wonder why Konami didn't follow the regulations instated in some FIFA's competitions in which players can use the same team only a limited number of times.

Apart from that, the level of the tournament was very high, even higher than in Barcelona according to the organizers, and we witnessed the coronation of an exceptional player, world champion in 2011 (and vice champion of the World in 2010 and 2014): Ettorito97. The Italian will be joined by the German El Matador, as well as the Frenchman TioMiit_PW, the only player who could resist him during the tournament by beating him at the second game of the Group stage (5-4). Spaniard Alex Algacil finished fourth and was able to count throughout the competition on the unconditional support of his compatriot Jose "josesg93" Carlos Sanchez, the champion of Season 1. The four players respectively win the $ 20,000, $ 10,000, $ 6,000 and $ 4,000 prizes, as Konami's prize pool for this British event reached a total of 40 000 $. An already significant endowment but nothing as impressive as the $200,000 prize pool promised to PES League 2017 world champion. We are looking forward to seeing the 16 world best players on June the 3rd in Wales!

It should be noted that the two British players present at the event, DexK and Bad Boy G, did not pass the group stage despite having been in one of the lesser groups. To see all the results, do not hesitate to visit the official website of the PES League.
