It's always sad to see veteran big name players retiring from their respective esports, and that's exactly the case when hearing that Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye is retiring from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Being a part of the scene since 2014, Kjaerbye has achieved success on multiple different rosters over his career, including Faze Clan, Astralis, and North, and has earnt over $620,000 in prize winnings over the years.
"The time has come for me to say goodbye to gaming as a professional Counter-Strike player," said Kjaerbye. "It is with a heavy heart, I am writing this, but as of right now, I have no longer the hunger and determination it requires to compete on top level. The game has been a huge part of my life for the past 10 years, and I feel this is the time for me to look for new horizons and opportunities."
And as for what these new opportunities are for Kjaerbye, the veteran player also mentioned, "Future work can be both inside and outside the game. Time will tell."
